memberships to local economy are now open
Hello! You're receiving this email because you signed up to hear more from us here at Local Economy, the forthcoming community space in Oakland. And we've got the biggest news about the space yet: We are officially taking memberships, which will begin on October 1, or as soon as we can get the doors open shortly thereafter.
Members pay monthly dues that give them full access to the space when it is open, first dibs on event tickets, and a bundle of fun stuff. Those dues also help keep the space open and thriving for the larger community, so that our programs can be accessible and inclusive.
There are three levels of membership—$20, $50, and $100 per month—designed for people who imagine being involved with Local Economy in different ways. It’s also worth noting: We aren’t going to turn away people who want to contribute to the community, even if membership is out of reach financially. Student, social worker, or just between gigs, reach out to us. (NOTAFLOF!)
You can read all about memberships, check out the FAQ, or jump right to our member signup page on our new website.
But wait, there's more.
We also have our first slate of events posted on the site. We're still pinning down exact dates for a bunch of them (a little tricky since we've got physical work left to do on the space), but we want you to see what we're trying to bring to the neighborhood and city. We've been floored by how many people in the community reached out to do events and workshops and readings. It's all happening!
You probably still have questions, and that's why we have the FAQ up now. If you have more, just send us an email at hi@thelocaleconomy.com.
Last note: this is our little communication vehicle for the community, a newsletter hosted on Ghost. We're calling it light work. Expect semi-regular updates. And soon a lot more things will be popping up. An event calendar and event pages over on the website, etc, etc.
So, stay tuned. This has been such an exciting adventure for us already and we hope you're ready to pull up a chair.
