Community newsletter: Look at what the light did now
Local Economy has now been open for two months. When we first opened the door, the sun would come beating into the space, and we couldn't imagine closing the door. Nowadays, we're already counting down til the warmth of spring, but the light has been spectacular, lengthened and softened.
We've extended our hours.
Wednesday-Saturday, Painted Leopard coffee starts at 8:30am and stops at 2pm, and the space is open til 4. Rejoice, caffeinate, etc.

Events!
We've got a full slate of December programming, and then in January (tiny preview!), we'll have some new-year-new-me stuff for your personal growth needs. Coming up in the next couple weeks...
Support Authors Against Book Bans.
Tomorrow (Tuesday), we've got an event with local authors Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Dashka Slater, who have both had books banned in places across this country. Maggie is now president of Authors Against Book Bans, and she'll be talking with Oakland school board member, Rachel Latta. And then we'll write some thank you letters to librarians. Because librarians are the best!
Chat with Tomas Moniz
Wednesday, we've got Tomas Moniz coming in for a morning (10am) session about his book, All Friends Are Necessary. It's part of our Storytime for Caregivers series.
BYOB Show and Tell
On Saturday night, for all your storytelling needs, we've got a fun interactive event with a few spots left. In essence: bring an object and tell us a story about it.
Non-Gestational Parent Discussion Group
Next week, we've got a little discussion group we're putting together for the dads, queer partners, and other parents who were never pregnant people. We're hoping all kinds of people come out for this one—women, men, enbies, trans, cis, queer, straight, etc.
The Oakland Review of Books Holiday Party
Also, mark your calendars for December 18th! Oakland's newest, weirdest, and most wonderful new publication, the Oakland Review of Books, is hosting a holiday party at Local Economy. Come one, come all!
Memberships, Regular and Gift
Just because we've had some questions: YES, MEMBERSHIPS ARE OPEN. You can just join! Just go here and fill out the form and boom, you're done.
We also created a way for you to give the gift of membership to someone. With this little form, you can give someone a three-month membership to Local Economy. If you come by the space, we'll give you a blank membership card to help make it cute. And...the retail shop has lots of great, practical, beautiful, giftable items if you need a little something.
Merch!
We've got new totes (free for members) and new hats (available for purchase in the shop).

See you soon!
