Community Newsletter: books, cookies & flowers, bread & jam for neighbors
GREEN

Hello friends!

It is November, and our shadows are growing. We're a month deep into operations, and still figuring out ... almost everything.

But we know this: people need community right now, and many of you are seeking it out at Local Economy. We're so grateful for members and event attendees and people who pop in for a coffee.

Speaking of which, our coffee friends Painted Leopard are hard at work prepping for their biggest weekend of the year, SF Coffee Festival, so they’re not at Local Economy this week. Go see them at Fort Mason! (They have hot new merch.)

While they are out, we're going to have a few different things happening in the space.

This Week at Local Economy

Wednesday night, we've got Brad from East Bay Booksellers and Stephen Sparks from Pt. Reyes Books doing a holiday bookseller preview. Come find out which books you should actually buy.

Thursday at 1, we're doing a BYO lunch hang for members and the membership-curious. No programming, just an invitation to end that Zoom call and come eat your lunch with humans.

Friday, we're going to have Romi from East Oak Bouquets back with flowers from 2-4pm, accompanied by the awesome Cookie Chachi selling cookies from 1-3pm.

And Saturday at 11am, we're doing a little thing called Bread and Jam for Neighbors. Ed's Breads is gonna bring his amazing sourdough loaves to the space. AND Innajam is donating some of their last jars of fig jam to the cause. You can buy both and the proceeds will go to Alameda County Community Food Bank.

We also now have a bin for food bank drop-offs at the shop, if you want to help people being jerked around by our government right now. There's a list of preferred/not-preferred items at the end of this email.

This Month at Local Economy

There is so much going on at Local Economy. You can check out which events you might want to register for, or take a look at the month at a glance below. Some of the classes and events are full, but we just released more slots for a bunch of things.

One new event is a night with activist Shannon Watts put on by Reign Women on November 15.

A note on memberships

We also want to note that memberships are available. One big advantage of membership is that you get first crack at new events, a bunch of which are dropping next week including a Fixit Clinic with Jenny Odell, Dire Straits Live with Tracy Clark-Flory and Amanda Montei, a miniatures workshop, and BYOB show and tell.
